We’re back with another Rooms 2.0 recap! In this post, we’ll TLDR the fixes and updates to Rooms 2.0 from the last month or so and outline what’s coming up next. Thank you to all of the creators who have helped us with R2 bug reports and feedback in February. We’re making great progress down the road to a stable R2 beta.
Recent R2 Updates:
New R2 Circuit Limits
Thanks to the optimizations in Rooms 2, we’ve been able to raise the chip limit, CPU heat, and net heat.
- The chip limit went from 5000 to 7500! A 50% increase.
- CPU heat was increased by 50%.
- Net heat was increased by 100%.
- The number of players allowed in a room no longer affects the net heat limit. You can now set the player capacity of your rooms without being restricted by the previous limits.

140+ circuits are now out of Beta for R2 rooms
- Custom Locomotion is coming out of beta in R2! With the release of RTB we’re confident in the stability of the locomotion circuits and want to get them out of beta for everyone to use.
- We have deprecated the chip ‘Locomotion Set Steering Input Enabled’. It was intended to be dev only and R1 only. This deprecation won’t remove it from rooms using it already, but creators should transition to ‘Player Set Steering Input Enabled’ which is now fully released in R2.
- This update also included non-locomotion chips like math helpers, object events, camera / third person, if is valid, format value, and more.
- More info: See the full list of these circuits in more detail here!
Security & Anti-Hacking Measures
- One server-side patch blocked nearly 30,000 attempts to use network manipulation software for lag switching.
- One of our most recent patches educed the most latest examples of disruptive cheating and high visibility hacker instances, like Draculas spawning in the Rec Center.
- You can still visit Dracula in Crescendo of the Blood Moon!

- If you’ve been affected by hacking, you can share your experiences in the community-help channel in the Rec Room Official Discord. If you want to join the white hats and help us combat cheating more directly, join BugCrowd to earn cash and exclusive in-game rewards for exploits you find.

Improved Creator Moderation Tools
- We gave the creator moderation tools a much needed refresh - you can now temporarily ban players from rooms you own or moderate. Issue bans for minutes, hours, days, weeks, etc. Permanent bans are still available, as always.
- When banning a player from your room, you can provide a ban reason, which will be displayed to the player.
- You can now see the status and reason for a player’s current active ban, along with any past room bans.

Remove Unwanted Photos from Your Room
- You can now remove photos taken by other players from your room’s image feed.
- You can also now control who can tag you in photos. Anyone, only friends, or no one.

Improved 2D Hierarchy UI/UX
- In our recent updates to the 2D Hierarchy menu, we’ve improved scrolling, dragging, and nesting elements in containers.
- Finding objects in the hierarchy is easier. When you select an object using the Object widget, the hierarchy menu will automatically highlight and scroll to the item you’ve selected.

New Rooms 2 Inventions
- We published a set of Circuits-focused inventions made by our internal game team to help creators build more R2 rooms with building block style components.
- Examples - Run With Cooldown, Show Notification (that can send to all players or a specific one), Player Show Subtitle, Choose Random Audio, Synchronized Timer, etc.
- You can find them on the Rooms 2 Inventions carousel in the watch store.
- It should now be much easier for you to implement common game logic in your R2 rooms.
- Day-night cycle, bounce pads, and other inventions are coming soon!

- And you can now publish inventions, edit existing inventions, and find R2 inventions in the store.
Misc R2 Fixes
-
Added a “Center Pivot” button in the Quick Action Menu to move the pivot to the center of the currently selected object.
-
Fixed an issue with the Replicator that could cause you to get stuck in the “Regenerate” prompt when another player saves the room.
-
Fixed an issue where deleted Replicators could continue to generate chips and leave them generated in the scene on every save. Too many chips, not enough guacamole.
-
Fixed the Replicator’s Spawn Complete output so it will no longer fire before the object is ready to be interacted with by other circuits.
-
Fixed an issue where Regenerating a Replicator that had already made copies with object boards could cause all of the circuits in new objects to not function.
-
Resetting an object will now reset any variables inside its object board.
-
Fixed an issue where when you edit out of a Tube or Ribbon, you wouldn’t be able to select another object.
What’s coming soon™:
- Replicator stability
- We know creators love the replicator and that it’s had its share of issues in the past. We’ve got a good chunk of work shipping soon to help improve all round replicator stability and shore up the bugs the community has found.
- Snapping improvements
- We’re improving surface snapping, object snapping, snapping anchors, and working on providing better visuals and feedback while you’re placing objects with snapping enabled.
- Improving the R2 invention systems
- In case you missed the news: Rooms 2 Inventions - Publishing, Version Control, and Store Update!
- Allowing Rec Room Studio content in your inventions
- Bringing more props to R2
- We’re beginning some work to bring more R1 props over into R2! We’re prioritizing props based on creator feedback combined with what items are easy to move over quickly.
