Love it for screen, hate it for VR
Screen players are generally “lifeless”, so fresh beans are fine, but VR? It’s adding unnatural and almost uncanny valley feeling movements that neither I nor other VR players can appreciate. I think a toggle option is best for both parties because I believe that a good game comes from player-made decision and finding balance without upsetting a fanbase.
All we ask for is a toggle, devs, please do us all that much.

It’s because they’re a business at the end of the day, a business exists to appease the consumer otherwise people won’t use your services or want your goods. Decisions that are made to a game that is so community driven is practically IMPERATIVE that they listened to the community to allow the game to succeed, is it any wonder that as soon as RR started implementing things that the community at large was NOT okay with that the game started to falter in terms of quality and popularity?
Personally when I see Rec Room posting internal emails depicting layoffs and a desperation to make money the only thing I can see is the result of ignoring the communities wants and needs. Of course I’m being slightly dramatic as I don’t even play the game anymore*, I just can’t support a company that is fumbling the bag THIS HARD. Heck I had RR+ on and off for about 4 years, as soon as I had made enough to cash out I unsubbed and never looked back, so it’s not like I’m just a hater of the game, franky I loved it to a disgusting degree. But now the game is starting to change in such fundamental ways that you start to wonder how long until they change the game so much that it isn’t even the same rec room that most of us got hooked on.
Honestly in the end I hope they can find their footing with a new community that is okay with these changes because they do deserve to thrive based on their legacy alone. But the community they have is an uneven mix of veteran players complaining about the game and new people who started after things like rooms 2 and RRS released so it’s not alien to them.
*(By playing the game I mean doing any sort of creation or engaging with UGC rooms, I sometimes get on just to see what new crap they decide to add arbitrarily)

I get everyone’s side when they say that the new bean will have better benefits and they are also trying to make it like the old bean. But it will never be the old bean, it will never be the same. I like how it is now or shall I say before when we had the option to which we wanted. This made it so both original bean body players and new bean body players were happy. Since they have now gotten rid of the old bean body most of those players may quit I’ve already gotten many messages saying that my friends have quit and people who aren’t my friends have quit. The whole point of making a game or platform is to build a community and keep players on the platform, you can’t feed into one half of the players feedback or ideas while there is also another half of the community or even third of the community. We get you can’t please everyone, but making it an option to have the new bean or the old bean provided people a with their own option or opinion on what they wanted. This giving the people their own freedom of what they wanted to wear, while your still able to update the new bean and provide more for advancement of the game giving you more time or liberty to create something more than 7/8 of the community is willing to wear or invest their time in.

speaking honestly, i wasn’t much of a fan when the “full body” concept was introduced. i thought that we were only going to be limited to using the full body and not the classical bean body that we all are familiar with. the classic bean body is what made rec room out stand any other game and made it its own unique thing. i liked the fact that the developers let us keep the classical bean bodies that many people preferred. then, when they released the “new and approved” bean bodies, i wasn’t the biggest fan of that either. it wasn’t a big deal considering that we had a choice weither we wanted to use the new bean body or stick with the classical. now we don’t get that choice anymore. if i went to a public rec center, i would see more classical bean bodies than anything else. rec room says they want to do everything with the happiness of their players but then make decisions that limit them. maybe the new bean bodies do have some advantages to them such as better performance but i believe that the old bean body was working perfectly fine as it was. removing classical bean bodies is just another meaningless update. considering that if rec room developers didn’t remove the classical bean body and just kept making updates on the other ones for the people that preferred to use full body or the new bean bodies. the players of rec room wouldn’t have anything to be upset about because we all get to have a choice of what we want OUR avatar to look like. i can understand the other side of the argument when people say “things come and go with updates” but there was no exact reason why we need the classic bean body to leave? even if the game is “growing” as updates come in, that doesn’t mean that you have to remove something that all the old players are used to.

Imo this is probably the dumbest updates ever, i don’t think anybody asked for new bean bodies, it was nice when you could switch between them, but being forced to use the. new one, unbelievable, i’ve been playing rec room since 2021 and it was fun until rec room didn’t do what the community wanted, i understand u can make your own decisions but atleast let the community decide,

This not a good move, first animations look so unnatural I don’t think i’ve ever seen someone swing there hands in front of them while they’re walking for good reason too, it makes it look like you tried badly to mix a strut with normal walking. I would say they should actual look at how humans behave instead of this goofy animations that most don’t like. Also I hate the way that mustaches and glasses are combined together when moving the nose because it;s almost always like the glasses are too high up or the mustache is too low down, either way it looks funny. At this point just add a customization for glasses and mustaches just like how it is for if you wanted to put a hat lower on your head or slightly to the left.
