We’re retiring the classic bean with next week’s update on 6/2. We know how personal your avatar is, and this decision has not been made lightly. So, here’s a look at what’s changing and what to expect.
Back in September, we introduced the upgraded bean and committed to keeping the classic version around for a limited time while we fixed bugs and added polish.
We know some of you prefer the old look. Based on the most common feedback we heard from classic bean fans, we’re making a few updates to help the upgraded bean feel closer to what you’re used to. These changes will go live before the switch. Thank you for all of the feedback and passion, it’s helped shape these final steps.
In next week’s ship, you’ll see:
Reduced bobbing in walk and run animations.
Tweaked idle stances to fix that “bent backwards” look
A new “Classic Hand Size” toggle - make your hands bigger when you’re not grabbing
Tuning to hand colliders so typing in VR feels better.
Players still using the classic bean will be automatically updated to the upgraded version the next time they log in after the update. Everyone moving over to the upgraded bean will also get some perks: fewer bugs, better performance, and access to all the latest customization - including Avatar Studio creations, body and face sliders, and new face sprites.

This be why people quit yall always making some dumb move that nobody asked for just keep the old bean body like if yall want yall game to still have players don’t make dumb moves dam like yall be tweaking on everything
Dude, honestly, you guys need to stop complaining, I know the old bean body is extremely nostalgic, and I wish it wasn’t removed, But the things we like eventually go away, and there’s nothing we can do about it, The new bean body was better for me than the old one, because it matched my look and gameplay. But now, you guys are asking to remove the new bean body, that’s a shame. They’ll make it look original now and that’s it. Now stop complaining and play the damn game.
Glad to see steps towards making new bean feel and look much nicer now! I only got a few minor bugs that I think should be fixed as to line up with og bean if that’s not too much:
Visual effect regarding the green outline for settings like tapping the watch to open/highlighting makerpen and (maybe) sharecam
Sharecamera holding position (hand visible toggle on only)
Body visibility toggle not working
And as for hand scaling, could it be a slider in the customization pages? I think that’d make more sense to be where it belongs.
Beyond that, I never minded too much on the animations and I am happy to see the body be flexible only when it needs to, as I’ve heard of some exploits regarding it in PVP areas, notably dodgeball and Rec Royale, so good on that!
The major problem with this is they’re not even going to give us the opportunity or option to keep around old bean, several arguments I saw for this was how hard they worked for it to look original and better to which I’m not doubting but that does not mean you have to get rid of the old one. I personally like the old one as the look and feel of it feels better for me personally and it’s really a shame that will be taken away from me for no real benefit of the game.
I dont really mind the changes. This just shows that Rec Room is improving all of there tools and stuff. This is just my opinion so, if you dont agree with me then thats ok👍
I was really hoping you guys wouldn’t remove it, and honestly I don’t know why you have to I think it’s a poor decision. But at the very least, please add a toggle for the torso not to be bendy and make the new bean also more compatible with the V1 costumes. I’m making a movie on RR and it’s almost done filming, but all the costumes are CV1 and when a CV1 costume is worn by new bean it looks weird and the torso no clips due to the bendy torso.
At the very least please consider keeping a way to use classic bean still because otherwise I will have to delay my film to have ALL the costumes transferred into CV2 costumes. And not saying this (at least completely) in selfishness, I’m also thinking about the community as well. This will also affect rooms and especially older rooms with the CV1 costumes, the rooms still active that use them will have to transfer there’s over too and it’ll be an utter pain for them too. Please make the smart decision to either add these other toggles or to just keep the option to have classic bean. Thank you
This game is turning into a money hungry business, and are only looking for money to upgrade stuff that just didn’t need to be upgraded, which doesn’t sit right with me. being so, this game will lose a fan and player of their franchise. i’m sure many. Maybe in the future the game will realize they ruined the game with the full body, new bean, etc, the game wasn’t laggy until they started adding stuff that just didn’t need to be added, and now because they added that stuff and the game is laggy, they’re just getting rid of the main idea of the game and how it was created. don’t get me wrong the game is fun, if they left the old body and stayed still for a bit, only fixing bugs if they needed to be fixed then the game would be playable. getting rid of old body is not only making them lose their og players, but bringing more little kids into the game instead of the older and more mature player base they had before. it just defeats the concept. but i’m not changing nothing by this message, just thought i’d share a little bit of feedback.
how to lose players 101. Rec room making stupid decisions as per usual. New bean isnt optimized for the game what so ever in a pvp setting whether that be through the atrocious animations, making your character look skinnier, UGC making it worse through fake/non existent hitboxes, etc. This should even be debated if old bean (the better bean) should be removed. This is just fucking stupid with everything that you’ve been doing for the last 4 years. This hands down is one of the worst decisions you can ever fucking make.
I’m genuinely never playing this game again if the old bean isn’t kept it makes the game forget about the past and how good the game used to be why can’t you js keep it your gonna have people getting so mad because your getting rid of it and rec room will die because barely anyone likes the new bean body everyone’s js gonna quit so ima be honest js keep the old Bean body or no one’s gonna play it’s so bad it looks like every has scoliosis and your saying “be yourself” but your limiting the choices to stuff people don’t like it’s either a full body avatar that’s js weird or sum weird new Bean body with all the animations of full body it js doesn’t look right js keep it how it is like update the body it’s fine but let people be the old body if they want to it’s not a big deal to keep it.
