Is it just me or is it really getting repetitive seeing a new AI added to RecRoom? I don’t get why either? Why not just perfect the one you already have? Or scrap them entirely?
Ai is diminishing our creativity as a platform, they’re losing creators on the fly who don’t want to build games when there’s these tools that remove the need for talent.
It just means there’s no difference or variety to the content on the platform making everything seem plain and boring. It all just feels the same.
Should I even bother talking about how these are all under paywall? Like there’s no point wasting valuable development time on the most fruitless features.
What I hate most is despite all the hate these features get they still work on them and ignore the criticism. This very message will not be read by a developer. So much for a community ey?
It’s a very simple explanation: they are too lazy to do the job themselves, so they prefer to have AI run the platform for them. They are puzzled about why more players are choosing older versions of Rec Room instead of playing the current version.
I’m hoping we can collectively make an impact on their development process before it’s too late. It’s getting tired and old and I know for a fact I am too so soon my skill set would be put to better use elsewhere unless they make a serious turn around.
A community eye? AI can actually enhance creativity if used right. It’s a tool, not a replacement. You would do good to actually think stuff through instead of repeating stuff other kids say and make a fool out of yourself.
First off, are you that goblin vr guy that likes to respond to all of those hate comments on yt? Second, ai right now is trying to be pushed as a replacement, an application that does the job for you. Explain how an ai doing the work for you improving creativity? It doesn’t. I don’t know what you see in ai, but you need to let that go and open your eyes to what rec room is doing instead of trying to grasp straws and make half hearted comments.
Second, what do you mean “decent prompt”? Telling something to make you something isn’t creative. It is trying to replace creators by bringing in new creators with no knowledge of anything and giving them a tool that remove the whole journey of being a creator. This isn’t good for anybody. It’s like giving a 3rd grader chat gpt and telling them that they never need to learn math ever again. If you get rid of the whole learning part of creating, you don’t deserve to create.
I understand your frustration, but I think you have to agree that it’s a bit lackluster. In my honest opinion, it seems lazy to provide everyone with a half-hearted AI that doesn’t work consistently and then just walk away.
And also if everyone is saying they hate the A.I then idk maybe they hate the A.I just shows more instances of rec room not listening.
“if used right” is the important part here. Remember when they added the “player get is subscribed” chip and how IMMEDIATELY and excessively it was misused? The playerbase has too many bad eggs in it that would use AI to cut corners, make more low-effort content, and who knows what else.
Also try to be more respectful please, this person has just written a handful of short paragraphs on how they feel about it and why, and your response is just waving it away with “think stuff through instead of repeating stuff other kids say and making a fool out of yourself”.
I don’t believe I made a fool out of myself, besides I and many others have since voiced our concerns on maker ai regarding its destructive capabilities on a development platform and have since had it removed from RecRoom for the benefit of all small and growing creators.
Please would you elaborate on your point though as I would like to know your opinion on why I’m making a fool of myself. I had in past discussed my opinion with many growing creators alike who all shared a growing concern regarding also the direction of RecRoom as a platform.
TLDR:
Explain your opinion because mine helped get Maker AI removed for a very valid reason that’s shared amongst a lot of people regarding generative ai.
All this tells me is you have little to no backbone of IT or Computational experience, no hate regarding this. But as someone who has learnt and studied AI, it does not belong as a tool to be used on a Game Development and Social platform in such a way where it can generate content.
Ai is known to steal content from others as that’s exactly how it’s programmed, with the way RecRoom were headed in the past when this was a feature, they were headed for a lawsuit as soon many generative AI’s will face when they aid content creators like this community into content theft and copyright infringement.
TLDR: I study Computer Science and the impact of AI on society. While I believe it can be a useful tool when used correctly, generative use cases are not one of these correct use cases for a Social/Development platform.
