R1 bugs - what are your top R1 bugs and frustrations?

Buggy Shapes

Rec Room Object shapes have a tendency to glitch out of place after a while of being placed. This glitch could be shapes rotated a few degrees out of place, moved out of their original position, or manipulated to be unaligned. The glitch usually occurs if you save the room with multiple people in it or save the room multiple times over a certain period, maybe weeks or months.

The glitch seems to affect tube a lot, as well as be more noticeable with simple shapes like cubes or wedges with their sharper edges. This glitch has been around for years and has really deterred creators like me from building, as it’s really annoying to keep fixing. I have experienced worse, but these photos will have to do.

That curvy bit on this gangway buffer is supposed to go along with the cylinder and cube; I didn’t make it like that, it’s just what happens.

This cube in the middle that fills this shape in is supposed to be flat, but isn’t.

Here’s a really good example: this train track here is supposed to be level and straight, but watch what happens when we go over it at high speed. It’s subtle but shows it happens.

shiftedtrack-ezgif.com-optimize

You can see it shift about on this GIF (sorry for the quality, it’s all I can do here). Here is what it looks like close up.

We chose to make it out of segments so it wouldn’t break across the entire 5 miles of the map.

CV1 Animation Gizmo

I know Rec Room has moved on from using CV1, but when configuring a CV1 animation gizmo, it doesn’t let you change the animation speed. This glitch has been around for about a year now.

CV1 State Machine Glitches

I don’t know how this happens, but after a while, CV1 state machines will basically make their components disappear and make wires disappear, but still function properly. This has been a glitch for a few years.

Selecting stuff with the Maker Pen in Limits V2

I know Limits V2 is discontinued, but I don’t know if it’s the Limits V2 enabled that causes this bug. When hovering over a maker pen object in a Limits V2 room with a lot of ink used, it takes a while before the game lets you select it. This can take 20 seconds or even a few minutes before the game allows you to select what you’re hovering over.

UI bugging out far out from the middle of the map.

The further out you are from the middle of the map, the more your Watch and Maker Pen UI distorts and bugs out. This can disable you from clicking on the UI, so you have to click off, look somewhere else, and then return to the UI. Here are a few examples:

Lights disappear after a certain distance (Frustration)

I find this a frustration as I use point lights for signals, and I can’t see the signal until I’m 90 metres or closer. I have pretty big buildings I’d like to light up at night, but the light disappears after a certain distance, which just makes that area dark.

Animated invisible collision flings players

When moving on an animated invisible collision, when a lag spike occurs, everyone on it gets flung up in the air really far away. This usually only happens when a lot of people are on it, maybe 12+ people.

Reflection on tube ends (Frustration)

This weird reflection thing happens when you look at the end of a reflective piece of tube. It could be nice if there were a setting to turn it off. I’ll show an example here:

We really need an update on storefronts for people selling UGC

(A ā€œSearchā€ option, and a ā€œSortā€ option)

Not only is navigating our own profiles to find items dificult.

But trying to setup storefronts in rooms with multiple users….. ugh

Half the images do not show up, and its very hard to find anything in a giant pool of stuff.

Some old Spawner Gadgets appear to have broken (but not(!) in the first subroom); examples: enemies in ^GrafGoblinner (2nd subroom) and ^JumbotronInfiltration (2nd, 3rd, and 4th subrooms) not spawning. (The problem might also be broken Trigger Volumes or broken State Machines or something else.)

I know more game-breaking bugs in the UGC tools that probably have never been fixed (e.g. Object Respawner not always respawning an object when there are multiple players in a room; OnEnter and OnExit signals of State chips in a complex state machine (with cycles) not always working when there are multiple players in a room; beacons clamped to physical objects messing with the physics of the physical object; etc.), but I don’t care much about them because I know how to work around them. And, of course, there are bugs in the UGC tools that are not game-breaking, thus, I don’t care about them at all.

Bro, just use R2 at that point. :wilted_flower:

Clamps disconnecting way too often or no official cv2 way to connect items together

Having too many circuits running during the save process can cause that, especially if you have any that is to detect if someone is hacking.

Also make sure your auto-save frequency is set to 5 minutes (only put it with more time between when you absolutely must for a very complex room, and never sooner than 5 minutes).

Hop into a private instance of Rec Royale Solos and check your watch immediately after you join. You will notice it is somewhat flickering.

The reason this happens is because the menu is being rendered in the same 3D space as everything else instead of being rendered separately as its own overlay.

When an object is actively selected by anyone, it may stay in a ā€œfrozenā€ rotation / etc. until deselected.

its probably a problem with my code but sometimes a set position/transform sets position every 1 second even though its hooked up to a constant execute and the position input is constantly changing. the problem may stem from me using a 0 sec delay loop so I’d like to know if that’s the issue.

I think this is intentional.

Duplicate CV1 chips appear as pink text

they are I think, they are just saying they wouldn’t go back to R1 unless these R2 features were transferred, and as an R1 user myself I agree these should be added.

There’s an issue that’s been in here ever since November of 25. It’s a glitch where Clamp Gizmos just decide to… unclamp from the object. This happens everytime I save the room and it’s preventing me, and many other creators from creating games that uses Clamp Gizmos. Just fix this damn bug already, it’s been here for too long and it’s making it impossible to even MAKE anything. :face_with_bags_under_eyes:
