R1 bugs - what are your top R1 bugs and frustrations?

Crashes on all systems.

i think its a server side issue as it happens to everyone in the room. Its been a thing since i started playing rec room but for about 8 or so months its been more common.

this affects me when im in a public room, or if im building. It seems to be an issue that doesnt discriminate which room you are in.

to me, its the biggest issue which makes RV1 hard to play and should be maximum priority to fix.

Cv2 Costumes all together are horrible. When a Full Body Avatar puts on the costume, it should automatically convert the player to bean body. Furthermore, when wearing the costumes, the feet point downward along with the head and other body parts not proportionate to how it was built and fit onto the costume.

  1. No hierarchy in Rooms 1.0, I would not want to go back to Rooms 1.0 without a working hierarchy system since it saves me too much time when creating
    (To give backstory on why this is important during my time making rooms with friends I was always in charge of optimization, and finding wasted ink, without an hierarchy I would literally have to shoo everyone out of a map, delete everything 1 by 1 to make sure ALL ink was accounted for, aka no scraps were hidden at the bottom of the map, no wasted makers, no polaroids on Y axis 0, I’ve learned backwards tricks of finding this stuff and working around it, but a hierarchy is game changing since I literally can go in and find exactly every piece of UGC content in my room, and either group them together or delete it, heck I helped a team find a hidden invention they spawned in while joking around and located where it was in the room within 5 minutes (Apparently they spent hours searching for it), things that if we had a hierarchy it would be fixed in 2 seconds, heck being able to look at a map via studio and its hierarchy I was able to confirm a suspicion I had in an old map [1](https://rec.net/room/CozyRealm) that our fairy orbs we had going around the map still existed with the RC car on them, they just shrunk for some reason to a scale of 0,0,0, long story short, Hierarchy is needed badly )
  2. Replicator, literally is game changing circuitry
    (Its just needed, being able to hide stuff and spawn it when its necessary instead of having it hidden underneath a map always loaded taking up space is just bad room/game design)
  3. Needing roles for every little thing (Player properties) Having to make 20 different roles just to increment speed is annoying and just worse in every way
    (If you want an example of why using Roles for just changing player properties is annoying/bad just go to [2](https://rec.net/room/Kometenschauer) and take out the maker pen :stuck_out_tongue: we have around 10 different trigger volumes that put on a quieter voice role so you can talk with friends without speaking too loud, something that instead of using a chip to change 50 different properties because we can’t change the 1 we want, we should just be able to use 1 chip to change 1 setting)

(Also if we are up for reverting back and going to the past, I HIGHLY recommend giving players the OPTION to revert to the 3d UI, I haven’t created anything with the makerpen seriously since November 2024 since its just not fun creating with the 2D UI, its slow, takes extra long to do the same stuff I blew through with the 3d UI and just doesn’t scale well at all in VR, I’m not saying replace the 2D UI but just give players the options to use the tools they want to to create, aka a toggle)

I feel as Recroom is just more prone to Crashing, when I am building I usually experience it the most, compared to just casually playing rooms. It can be really disruptive, especially when Its costing me time that I have for building.

Animations aren’t working properly (can’t change the time on configure)

Cv1 button collisions are really bad and I have to spend a lot of time arranging them so I can actually press the buttons

Holotars are bugged and will just freeze after they finish for some reason

As a concert creator and light tech, please bring stage light V2 into Rooms V1

Any room with RRS takes forever to load into

That has become a lot better, but recently there has been a new bug where the player doesn’t respawn and is stuck on the death screen until they leave.

I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned here as its arguably the most noticeable bug in rooms1.0 and that’s object’s de-rending on all devices except pc.

Even on ps5 detailed art maps don’t fully show. There needs to be some kind of “refresh” similar to selecting shapes with the makerpen to make them load for people who join maps

Not a bug but definitely an issue; Limits V2, there was no reason of removing this feature other than skewing people to Rooms 2, which is a Russian nesting doll of a bugfest. Bring it back and people might publish some quality games again.

If you’re placing with CV2 isnt that an R2 bug? We’re asking about R1 bugs here. Or maybe you’re saying you’re placing an R1 invention?

I had an issue for a while, and through multiple updates that when saving, restoring, or just room reset would break the player avatar and some world elements and loading. Multiple rooms did this and they were a RRStudio room with beta enabled.

can you call out specific rooms where you’ve seen this happen recently so that we can investigate?

For some reason. Ai can now no longer be set on teams which confuses me. They were able to do that before but it’s been almost a year ever since I found this out. I don’t have a screenshot or video recording as proof but I will get one as soon as I can.

do you notice this happens more in R1 rooms vs R2 rooms? more in rooms with more players or rooms that have more objects in them? any patterns here?

There seems to be no way to actually collect multiple objects of different types as Rec Room Object Get All with Tag, keeps becoming marked as deprecated after I save the room.

The alternative chip, Rec Room Object Get All of Type with Tag will not work as there is no way to get objects like Props\Spots\Dodgeball and Props\Decor\Bucket (selecting Rec Room Object in this Beta chip will still not find them either).

you get a lot of crashes while building in R1? are you building with other people? Or building rooms with a lot of objects? are there any patterns on when you crash? is it randomly or always right when you pick up your Maker Pen or open a specific menu?

Also try to ask your players these questions:

  • Does it ever happen to whoever is currently the Room Authority ?
  • When it happens, at that moment, is the Room Authority’s or the affected player’s internet connection a bit unreliable or did they get a lag spike (including, but not limited to, a player joining or leaving)?

Not sure if it’s an issue with R1 and R2, but sometimes the room just doesn’t save. I’ll press the save button, it’ll fade to black then fade back to the world, but it doesn’t show the save in the loads. Pretty minor if you know it exists, but I imagine same unfortunate people didn’t and lost some their progress, using autosaves or not.

One significant issue that has been reported is with the older trucks, which can be a bit glitchy and prevent people from seeing clearly. This is concerning, as visibility is a core requirement for driving. I’ve noticed this problem occurring not just in Room 1.0, but also in Room 2.0 and other environments.

Another problem I’ve encountered is when I use the delete everything feature in the Maker Pen to erase my dorm room. This can sometimes render the entire room unusable and prevent me from leaving, which is quite frustrating.

Additionally, the watch lag is a prominent issue overall, but I’ve also experienced significant lag spikes when opening the Maker Pen. This affects not only me but also other players, though it seems to happen more frequently to me and a few others who are facing the same problem. As someone who spends about 60% of their time building, this can be very frustrating.

Lastly, I’ve noticed that the old holotars can randomly break, which poses a significant issue for users with older rooms that depend on them. There are also instances where older user interfaces malfunction, either failing to boot up or not functioning properly at all.
