Hey Rec Room Creators!
We recently released ^EvergrownPVP, a new room based on the Rec Room Original, My Little Monsters! We originally developed this as an internal prototype, but after having so much fun with it and seeing the potential it has to develop, we wanted to share it with our creators to clone, modify, and re-publish as your own game with your imagination driving the direction!
What is EvergrownPVP?
EvergrownPVP is a free-for-all PVP game where you use laser tag weapons to rack up a “KO Streak”, knocking out as many other players as possible before getting knocked out yourself! Your KO streak continues until another player successfully tags you out. Because the map has some verticality, players can bounce and hide behind trees and rocks to keep their streak alive.
So what can I do?
We made EvergrownPVP cloneable! Being able to clone a room means you don’t have to start from scratch - allowing you to copy the room and give it your own personal twist. You can add your own props, decorate on top of the existing environment, or add new mechanics to make the gameplay more exciting! If you need inspiration given the season, imagine building a house or hideout, throwing in a spooky witch hat, or setting up a cozy campsite in the Evergrown. You could even add your own monsters and costumes, making a PVE game where players have to defend the big tree!
It also gives you the opportunity to dig in and explore the circuits behind how a game like this works. And if you want, you can take those circuits and use them in a completely new setting!
Doing even more with Rec Room Studio
We built this room using Rec Room Studio, so while you can’t move objects using the maker pen, you can change and edit everything in this room using Rec Room Studio! Rec Room Studio gives our creators access to a suite of professional-grade development tools, including not just the Unity editor, but also the variety of apps it can import from, like Photoshop, Blender, Maya and more. This lets you edit complex environments, import custom assets, and make finer adjustments to maps than you could using the maker pen. In EvergrownPVP, for example, you can completely redesign the map, modify textures on the rocks and trees, adjust lighting, and even bring in your own 3D models to create a unique look and feel.
Why’d we do this?
We’re always looking for ways to make the creation process easier for our community. We love seeing creators like you take a room and turn it into your own creation. So if you do clone the room, be sure to tag it with #EvergrownPVP and show us what creative spin you’ve put on it!
