UGC Room plugins

Room plugins would be great features allowing room creators to add things into their room that Rec Room probably won’t make.

Room plugins would be add-ons created by the community for room owners. The plugins would be either paid with tokens or free (just like inventions).

Unlike inventions which are limited to the MakerPen, room plugins would be custom coded (with a few limitations to prevent abuse).

Room plugins would be like Discord server bots/apps.

These plugins could interact outside of Rec Room.

For example, one plugins would add a web browser to the room and could be placed with the MakerPen in a “Custom plugins” section.

Or you could make the plugins add a custom circuit that can send messages or webhhooks to Discord or a website made by the plugins creator.

Or room owners could add a plugin that would be with a website (hosted by the plugins creator) where you can link your Rec Room account and contact room owners or appeal room bans.

The websites or whatever can interact with a room, for example the room owners could read and accept ban appeals on this community made website and that could unban a user.

The possibilities are endless.

Hey @chazbot , as cool as this idea is I believe a more elegant solution to this feature would be full API access to make calls and receive request. It would allow for the discord features you described here and more without needing more development work for a fully embedded plugins feature for rooms.

Makes sense.

However rec room should prevent sending user data you’re not supposed to access to the API to prevent abuse, only an idea.
