Hey, it’s been 8 days since the contest started, and working in Rooms 2.0 has been a frustrating experience for most creators. Between frequent crashes, soft locks, lag, rendering issues, and the major bug where animation controllers reset or delete frames on save—it’s just not in a workable state right now.
I believe one of two things needs to happen:
Either the contest should be postponed until these major bugs are fixed,
or
Creators should be allowed to use their preferred room type, because Rooms 2.0 clearly isn’t ready yet.
Here are just a few examples of issues that are blocking progress:
Desktop sharing is broken – This is crucial for creators who model characters or props using references. With this bug, we lose accuracy and efficiency.
Animation Controller is completely broken – This one’s a game breaker, especially for creators working on story-based games. Animations and synced audio are essential for cutscenes and pacing, and right now they can’t be used reliably at all.
Additional community report – Shows how widespread and serious the animation issue is.
For story games that need to be at least 30 minutes long without wave-based gameplay, having consistent animation and timing is essential. Until these tools are stable, progress is almost impossible. If/when these bugs are fixed, the contest timeline should be extended to match the downtime we’ve had, because right now, we’re stuck.
