Rec Room Promoters / Party's

I do not know if this is the right place to request this, but can we please remove the “invite all friends” online button in partys? This has been a thing for years and has even sparked a whole new “Role” you can identify as which is a Promoter. Its so crazy to me how you can just click a few buttons then invite YOUR WHOLE ENTIRE FRIEND LISTS!!! I assume the feature was intended for maybe inviting like 10-20 ppl, but some of the creators on this platform at times have THOUSANDS of friends online. This makes it so unfair for newer creators to make advances into there career, and we wonder why all the games are just quick maps made in a few days plastered with consumables. Me personally I had so many goals for myself as a creator, and the ideas I had were endless, but realsing that creating a fan base on recroom relied on Promoters, and cheap easy cashgrabs was what made me give up on making quality rooms. Dont get me wrong rooms have never been super “quality” or had a lot of replayability mainly because of limited creation tools, but it was never this bad EVER. Most of the rooms now are just cheap AI games, and old rooms made in like 2018. All I ask for is too add a limit to how many you can invite or too remove the option entirely, or too maybe even also INVITE THEM TO THE PARTY instead of inviting them to the game because why am I inviting someone to my party but it sends them an invite to join the game instead???

This is a much needed change to combat low quality, spammy rooms and creators from artificially boosting their rooms to the top. I’m surprised to only see it suggested now.

I agree but also disagree. I do believe its a problem but one I unfortunately contribute to. I make high quality rooms but to grow out these rooms I’ve had to resort to Inviting my friend’s list and directing them towards playing the game. I’d be all in for removing the invite option if rec room actually promoted high quality rooms. The only other option i have to make a room get traction is events on any game really which WILL get hacked. Not only big cashgrab creators are benefiting from the invite all feature, Due to this existing for so long and the setup of the algorithm, Small creators have had to resort to the same thing to even have a chance in the creator economy.

I also feel like this would bring more traction to Rec Room because people will have to result to other methods of promotions like Social Media. It’ll also use the normal forms of promotion that barely get used like events.

You’re part of the problem

we know this already man, but because i’m part of the problem is why i feel the need to talk about how it can be fixed. I also don’t promote… I get promoters on my maps to invite people because it’ll boost the map

He wasn’t replying to you, Ardenis. In my opinion, I think that they should have a moderation system with volunteers that can take them off the front page if they are low quality or maybe have a monetization thing where before they can start earning from their room, a volunteer has to verify its not get a trash game or make people before they start getting montized they have to get there account checked and make sure they are not just making a million cash grabs and after they get verified there should be a report room button that asks if the room is a cashgrab/low quality and have a moderation tab in the watch for mods that has a list of the most voted maps

Oh nah bro

wow, just wow

Honestly? Social Media and Rec Room dont go hand in hand. Most Rec Room social Media content does bad on all platforms

honestly i totally agree because promoters are annoying + without promoters i will finally have a chance in the spotlight with my rooms (maybe)

A big % of the playerbase is just being refilitered into an other rooms by mass promotion and there arent really many new players if anything from the graphs you can see on stuff like steam the playercount is decreasing. Im just saying it would bring more players to rec room, and it would allow for creators who are newer to actually build a career. people make these terrible rooms, and just mass promote. Yeah at the end of the day the kids are playing those games, but there just flooding the pages, and don’t motivate other people to want to make unqieu games.

Tbh I don’t think people not promoting is going to help your games, I’ve looked at them and they are low quality, why do you have games that are rooms with just 1 color, the only way you are really going to get any visits/cheers you are going to need to get at least semi-serious, I 100% don’t mean any offense and I am just trying to provide some insight.
