R1 is the new default room type + removing Maker AI

They make this decision only after months of ignoring people telling them that NO ONE was going to use Maker AI.

Great update! Unlimited ink has my mind reeling with potential. Exciting stuff. Hope to see Game AI chips come to Rooms 1.0 if at all possible. Cheers!

He’s annoyed that Rec Room was again very very late to realise this was a bad move, ignoring the community’s feedback and instead only caring about the data. Like Star Centurion said, they’ll have wasted alot of money not changing direction months ago. And i personally worry that means they could be even more eager to try speed along future changes without caring about community feedback again to hastily recover that lost money. Hopefully they’ll be more responsible and respectful of their community’s feedback than that.

Not just that people weren’t going to use it. “Unethical” may be a bit dramatic of a word but it looked like they were entirely willing to disregard how unethical the more passionate side of the community thought it was, just hoping that it would make them more money off of the people that would use it, which would have been plain awful if so.

Cool! and Thank you! But just a question: Will and should there be options to spawn RRS inventions in Rooms1? And if yes, is there a way to convert Rooms2 RRS inventions to Rooms1 to use? | AI can be very helpful, but it is important to not overuse it. Work assisted or fully made with AI is either not as unique or not unique at all. However, AI is helpful for running games or judging winners, like in ^SketchyShowdown. However, Generative AI for written, musical, and visual work is depreciating real creativity because people are becoming dependent on it. My personal opinion for Rec Room’s AI features is to just be used to run a game or generate (not like AI generate but like a Minecraft world) randomized things like terrains and clouds.

Also, I might as well request this feature here… You know Rec Room’s AI? (Like Goblins, or enemies in general) What if there was a feature to easily put in randomized background characters or people that use the NavMesh and just basically walk around?

Maybe like a spawner just like the NavMesh AI enemies. You could also mark where you’d want the NPC characters to walk around, and where to avoid.

This could also be something AI would be great for, like looking out for objects coming the NPC’s way, or to play random character animations for the NPC’s like walking, running, jumping, or probably just them standing somewhere and casually using their Watch?

It would probably not be needed, but for each spawner, you could type in a prompt of the style of clothing you would like the NPCs to randomly wear when spawned? (And not AI Generated Assets, just AI determining which character items to put on the NPC.)

I know, you could just use 65000 Holotars and an AI Path point and other stuff, but this would be much faster and easier for creators, especially new ones.

Also, please don’t restrict it to just full body avatars if you are able to add in bean avatars.

This feature would also be great for Rooms1 and 2, but probably ideally just for Rooms2.
