Can a mac rec room player use RRS?

Can a mac rec room player use rec room studio? or is it only exclusively for PC?

Rec Room Studio is mainly designed for Windows PCs because it works well with the Unity editor, mostly used on Windows.

However, Mac users can still use Rec Room Studio using Boot Camp or a similar tool to run Windows on their Mac. This setup allows you to install and run Windows applications, including Rec Room Studio, on your Mac.

Would rec room studio run well on a Mac because I know I can download windows but would it be too laggy to cope with? Mine is about 5 years old so not very new.

Running Rec Room Studio on a Mac that’s about five years old can be challenging, especially if you’re using Boot Camp to run Windows. Here are some important considerations:

  1. System Requirements: Rec Room Studio has specific system requirements for smooth performance, which typically include:

    • Processor: Intel i5 4570 or Ryzen 5 1400
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: GTX 750ti, RX 460, or an equivalent DirectX 11-compliant GPU
    • Storage: 7 GB of available space on a 7200 RPM HDD
  2. Performance: Older Macs may struggle to meet these requirements, particularly if they lack a dedicated GPU or sufficient RAM. Additionally, running Windows through Boot Camp can put extra strain on your system.

  3. Optimization: If you choose to try running Rec Room Studio, consider the following tips to improve performance:

    • Close Unnecessary Applications: Free up as many system resources as possible.
    • Lower Graphics Settings: Set the graphics options in Rec Room Studio to the lowest settings to enhance performance.
    • Regular Maintenance: Keep your system clean and updated to minimize any lag.

If your Mac does not meet these requirements, you may experience significant lag or performance issues. It might be worthwhile to consider upgrading your hardware or using a more powerful PC for running Rec Room Studio.

I hope this information is helpful! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

The last AMA answered this question! Hope this helps:

This was their answer to that question:

Um let’s see here uh there have been discussions very early on around studio for the Mac but I think that really kind of ties into you know RecRoom on the Mac um I don’t know that it makes sense to release Studio on the Mac before rec room is available on the Mac and I don’t think we have any plans for RecRoom to be on the Macintosh yet so I would say um no right now there’s no plans for Studio to be available for anything other than Windows PC
