Why are Art Contest Rewards extremely low compared to other contests and even league rewards? Artists spend as much time as other contests yet only receive a shirt and about 1,500/2,500 tokens. I and others were told to not even enter because the reward is not worth the amount of time and skill put in to draw something. Majority of artists will spend 20hrs to 60+ hrs for a single drawing just to get so little. The last contest I won all categories a received enough tokens to buy a single item in a set or I could buy 2 cheaper items with it but that’s only because I won multiple times while majority only won in one category. Which leaves them with 1,500/2,500 tokens and at the time you could only really get a custom shirt (Custom shirts btw the lowest it could cost is 1000 tokens) Now remember other contests you could cash out or even just keep it. I learned later that even Leagues receive more rewards then the art contest. I strongly suggest changing this for the next art contest. Also giving artists a skin possibly a marker one would be cool (but I also understand why that would be hard to do for a marker)
I’m not a 2D artist in Rec Room, but I’m sure that there’s been put tens of hours into creating beautiful pieces for ever contest. I agree that the reward for winning is very low and should definitely be higher, where i would say 10k-20k would be a decent number. However, the market and community for 2D art in Rec Room just isn’t that big, t least not compared to the creation or even PvP communities, as far as I know. I totally understand the desire for higher valued rewards, as a creator contest participants and winner myself, but it feels a bit unfair or unreasonable given the size of the drawing community. (correct me if im wrong about the size of the community…).
The Art community is smaller compared to other things within RecRoom but it doesn’t mean they should feel like there work isn’t qs great compared to others. This last Art Contest had the biggest amount of submissions compared to the last Art Contests. Artists are getting to a bigger size and there is a market to them. Lately there has been a trend to build art/drawing rooms. So I feel as thogh it is reasonable to give Artist a bigger reward. If you take a look at the submissions from the last Art Contest and then see what you get from winning that seems unfair. (Personally I feel like some of the art that won deserved atleast 10-30K Tokens atleast)
The Artist community is growing but many people outside the art community don’t pay attention to it. But you’ll see art around at gallery’s, pfps, custom shirts, or on the walls.
Firstly I think rec room isn’t/wasn’t built for art and there is not much use for it (Not saying I don’t apricate it or think its awesome) but that’s not the main use for it and so it doesn’t make them much money which in turn makes the prize pool lower (Which I think is really dumb). And secondly as Sasu said the community isn’t as big as others in rec room. I’m not an artist but I do agree they have enough money and even though the community is smaller the artists deserve at least one contest where the prize pool is big enough for at least first to cash out. And the community isn’t that small especially compared to the building community which is dwindling with the stupid decisions they made with r2 and not supporting the creators there are less and less (I think that’s a reason why it was so easy to get third in solarpunk for me). I think 2,500 being max is terribly underpaid as it is barely over rr+ rewards (Because they care about money way more than the community).
