On the current room page, there’s a row to execute actions for the Game Rules chip, such as Game Start and View Scoreboard. In this post, we’ll call it the “action bar”
During a game, there’s options for ending the game and switching teams for higher-up roles. (Owner, Co-Owner, Host, etc.)
Here’s how the action bar looks during a game to higher-ups.
I think there’s a lot of room for flexibility, especially if we remove keys that aren’t able to be used at the point in time. (For example, removing the “Switch Team” key when you can’t switch teams.)
That’s why in this post I’d like to propose the ability to add your own keys to the action bar!
This could add more opportunity for creators to add actions that can be executed globally without some arbitrary system like always having the player hold a trigger handle. In a puzzle game where the player has to start and stop flows, you could have a key in the action bar where you can start a flow. Or, in a game that’s in a beta state, you could have a key in the action bar that gives the player logs they can report, even if they don’t have a game rules chip!
This could work with the event receiver chips, or with a separate chip called something like “On Room Info Key Pressed”.
