Will there be a way to add a transfer option where people can import there rooms (as best as the system allows) into rooms 2.0, so creators won’t need to recreate their entire rooms?

This would be a good way for many creators to transition to rooms 2.0!

It’s a fun idea that a lot of creators have suggested

exept…

tranfering an ENTIRE room is very difficult.

Rec Room hasn’t even made it possible to transfer SUBROOMS from a normal R1 room to an R1 room with beta enabled. So imagine how much harder it would be to convert a room into a room with completely different ‘rules’ in it.

Not to mention all CV1 objects are not supported in R2, chips like the Event Receiver have more functions in R2 than R1, and a ton of the stuff in the room wouldn’t load properly.

So basically, it’s pretty much impossible. BUT. It would be very nice if RR made some sort of option so that if you recreate your R1 room in R2 from scratch, you could transfer the gained data (room visits, cheers, earnings, CTR, etc) to the new R2 room. But I also advise putting big R2 creation on hold for a while, until RR is finished fixing up the big bugs.

Already R1 inventions ported over can be unstable. I like to use the environment from the oooold snowy terrain template for my testing rooms, but when i ported it to R2, i’ve found that it’s incredibly laggy to point my pen at, and sometimes when loading the room there is a significant offset between the perceived position of the environment, and the actual collision of the object that usually ends up several meters below/inside of it
