Description

I added a ball pit with moveable balls then after saving it it was super laggy and the balls were physically simulated

This bug report feels misplaced. As a heads up, in any game engine if you have a lot of physically simulated objects in one place, that will lead to many collisions and will lag any device.

The best solution to this right now is simulated physics with shaders with static objects, this has been showcased in some VRChat worlds, however even those still tank performance.

HOWEVER, I have noticed some issues when RecRoom is handling many collisions at once whilst trying to sync them across all players in the room. I’ve had people crash and or sent to their dorm room multiple times in my own ball pit testing room when objects authorities are changing rapidly.

TLDR; this likely isn’t a bug, having to many physically simulated objects will lag regardless.

Great thank you. So I need to spread them out?

Unfortunately, a ball bit may not be feasible inside of RecRoom… BUT what I did to get around the performance issues, is scaling up the balls.

It probably wont look as good as a real life ball pit would, but it may still be able to run on your device. I scaled up my ball pit balls to around 3/4’s of the players size in a pit size of 10x10 meters.

Hope this helps!

That helped a lot but I won’t publish the room just in case of lag

@Pinkyduck @NGCreate
Ive actually made a ball pit myself but to reduce lag i made separate animations for it so when you move around inside of the ball pit it just plays an animation around the player to make it look like your in a ball pit

I have 2 animations one for jumping and one for movement

Good idea I should do that too

Can I go to that room and see the circuits you used

Freind me on RR btw
