Description

I started a project in Rooms 2 and I noticed that everything had moved/rotated slightly. When I edited some of the objects and looked at its XYZ rotation it was a bunch of long decimals. Instead of Z being a flat 180 it would be like 180.39246237, and I never changed or touched anything at ALL. This is happening to almost all my objects! Like I had a bush lined up perfectly with a fence then once I saved and came back the next day the dang bush wash basically on the other side of the fence! Im not sure what you call that thing with VR were objects are to close and start to glitch (I think z fighting) but my friend said the whole game looked like that. When I’m with a friend well sometimes see different variations the object like for example ill have a door in the wall and it’ll be pushed/glitched into the left side of the wall, but it’ll be in the to right corner or something for him??? We even sent each other images and they were not In the same spot

Does the room require you to load creation data before you can use your makerpen?

Loading creation data has a tendency to move your objects. I mentioned it in my recent post

yeah i’m not sure how to disable it

Thank you for the bug report. I have two questions that will help us understand the root cause of the issue better.

  1. Does this only occur when you are in the room with someone else?
  2. When you say “pushed into the left side of the wall”, by how much? And is it far away from the pivot point of the container (or deep in a hierarchy with the root far away)

Network compression of rotation will cause about 0.1% error in the position of objects, meaning 1 millimeter of error for every meter away from the pivot point of the container they are in (3.6 inches per football field (100 yards)). We are fixing a bug relating to when we are using compressed vs uncompressed pose data on the network, but if you are seeing a much larger motion it may be something else.

Hey Ardenis,

A Rec Room Employee followed up with some questions, let us know if you can answer them. Will help a ton!

  1. Yes and usually only then
  2. Usually only a few centimeters/inches nothing crazy like a whole meter. And when it is a whole meter it’s usually the whole map that’s bugged

I have this problem too. I will have to doublecheck but i don’t think the pivot’s that far away, are you talking about the pivot of the container it’s in? Or the pivot of the parent container?

This happens way to much in 2.0 rooms

Yeah I got this but with an invention, the stuff in it would just be in random positions

I’m seeing we shipped a fix for this on Nov 25th - just checking in, does this seem better for everyone or are people still seeing this exact issue? Thanks!
