Stage Light V2 Light Projection

With stage light V2 coming in beta, I tried it out and it was pretty cool, I will say I was a little bummed out when IU saw that the light did not have any projection that actually lights up and object. I believe that we could have a light projection light up objects like in the photos below. With the current way that we can “light up objects” with the stage light is by having a spotlight inside the stage light which takes up a lot of space and circuits. Here below is the stage light with a light projection and how it was made and how we should have the stage light with a light projection without a spotlight inside

Glad you like it! The original design for the Stage Light V2 actually included a built in light, but we ultimately decided to leave it out, making it similar to Stage Light V1. Due to low level rendering constraints in Unity, rooms are limited to having 64 lights. If the Stage Light included one of these lights, it would have to add to the count, even if creators didn’t intend to use it. So to provide the most flexibility to creators, the light isn’t built in, but adding the light manually like you’ve done here looks like a great solution.

I understand that there are constraints towards these rooms but with R2 coming out, do you think that these unity constraints could be extended a bit to maybe 100 or more? Also, the solution that I have here is not a good solution because animating these two objects suck so hopefully with optimization being a huge topic, this may become a reality
