RRS Editor Version Issue

Hello,

I’ve been trying to sort out this issue ever since the new Unity 6 update dropped, but I haven’t had any luck so far. I’ve already reached out through Zendesk and the Creator Hub Discord, but I haven’t gotten any help yet, so I figured I’d explain everything here and hope for the best..

Basically, after the Unity 6 update, all my RRS projects automatically updated their editor version to 6000, and now they’re completely broken and incompatible. I can’t open or work on any of them anymore, everything just errors out or fails to load.

I’ve tried a bunch of different things to fix it:

  • Manually switching the editor version back to what it was before (which somehow made things worse).

  • Reinstalling RRS entirely, hoping it would reset the versioning.

  • Testing older Unity versions to see if any of them would recognize my projects again.

Nothing has worked so far, and I’m basically stuck without access to any of my existing projects.

If there’s a known fix or workaround for this, I’d really appreciate any help. I just want to get back to working on my stuff again without having to start over.

This is assuming you pushed a save to rec.net already:

Uninstall both the old and the new Unity versions. You might better off creating a new project through the launcher, installing Unity through there, and loading your latest room in a new project. Bring in your missing assets from your other projects.

You shouldn’t lose that much progress. I had this same issue with a few of my rooms this worked for me.

If you didn’t, it’s highly likely you aren’t going to be able to open the RR scene anymore with all these problems (and is likely corrupted now?). Hopefully this isn’t the case for you.

I understand this is somewhat of a semi-nuclear method, but the upgrade was already pretty messy. Might as well start with a clean slate.

I’ve attempted.

All my projects were affected and when I attempt to create a completely new project the issue remains. All my projects are corrupted with no way to fix the issue, I’ve attempted to get support through zendesk to see if they can do something on their end but no response. This update was indeed messy.. ruined everything.

What is the error you’re running into when trying to open your room?

Anything in the console?

My bad for late response, the room is fine on RecRoom.

Though on studio, everything is a grey screen. The assets are there but nothing loads. Along with that, I cant even change the editor version to the right one cuz it says the project is running when it literally isnt.
