Rec Room should make room boosts more rewarding for room creators

Hey everyone, the current implementation of room boosts creates a Misleading expectation and fails to deliever good value to most creators, Below is a clear summary of the problem.

Quick Summary!

  • The way rec room frames room boosts, they do it as a way to “support the rooms you love" That reasonably implies that if you boost a room it will directly help the creators of the room, right?
  • In the current system, boost purchase revenue all goes to rec room while creators get nothing other than medals on there room thumbnail and there is a Top 10 boosted rooms leaderboard which gives alot of exposure but you only get that if your room is the Top 10 most boosted rooms
  • That mismatch - Support vs no creator compensation/rewards is unfair and misleading

Real example that shows why this matters

A player from my community boosted my room ^CrossFighters 126 times because they believed doing so would directly support me as the creator. They fully expected that I would receive a cut or some kind of reward from these boosts, in reality, I received nothing, rec room took it all and it went to waste.

This likely has happened to other players to and Many players reasonably assume that boosting a room financially supports its creators, because thats how the feature is framed, creators receive nothing from boosts unless they reach the Top 10 leaderboard.

Key problems (short)

  • Revenue goes to the platform, not creators, despite “support” messaging.
  • Only Top-10 weekly rooms get meaningful rewards.
  • Leaderboard is weekly and resets, so one-time large boosts don’t translate into lasting benefit.
  • Player expectations are being misled people reasonably assume boosting helps creators, it all goes to rec room.

Why is it bad?

  • Creators Invest alot of time, skill and even sometimes alot of money into making rooms it’s reasonable for creators to receive Some sort of Direct Compensation/Rewards when a player boosts there room.
  • All im basically asking that room boosts to have real value to rooms or creators if a single boost even hundreds of boosts result in NO benefit and only to rec room then it fails to “support the rooms you love.”

Exactly they are just making themselves look greedy for money. Recroom can atleast give a % of the tokens to the creators that people spend on room boosts.

I agree, but I believe they will add more incentive to have it in the future (There is no other way they can make creators adapt it without incentive)

So give them time, You don’t have to adapt it yet.

Totally fair

The 4-week test shows Rec Room is iterating, and I’m glad they’re gathering data. That said tho “give them time” is only useful if we also ask for clear, public commitments while they test. Otherwise the messaging (“support the rooms you love”) keeps misleading players and creators.

Real example: one player boosted my room 126 times thinking I’d get a cut or some sort of reward I got nothing just a silver medal on my room that does nothing. I am sure this has happened to many other players/creators aswell.

i agree with this! im a small time creator but i think it fair!

I totally agree , creator doesn’t get anything from it , except the visibility
