Paid Boosts for Rooms

Make it so you can pay to boost your rokms so players can see your room more almost like an advert.

There was a creator survey around a year ago, that asked if we want paid promotion, but it was never mentioned ever since

While I like the idea, I feel this could result in a not so favorable outcome. The top rooms clearly earning more tokens, being able to afford more “Boosts,” which in turn would earn them more tokens. And so on…perpetuating a loop of the same top rooms. If this were to ever be done, there’d need to be some serious mitigations to prevent that sort of thing.

I mean it somehow already exists with promoters. But naaah this wouldnt be a good idea

This Would Be Good For Us Small Creators Paying To Get Our Rooms Out To The Community!

Yes, it would. But think about it for a sec… pages would be SWARMING with cashgrabs, and at that point the game turns into something like a “Pay to win” game Exept “Pay to get famous” type thing. Yeah that would not work.

I think I prefer a Promoted Rooms section or tag rather than having promoters constantly harassing their friends to join a room. :sob: I believe this could give smaller creators a chance to shine. A main concern, however, is that larger creators might use it just to stay at the top and how much a boost would cost.

In my opinion, the most optimal way for this to work is to ensure there is a diverse selection of rooms applying for boosts. One way to achieve this is through pricing; I wouldn’t make it too cheap so that anyone could boost their room, nor so expensive that only the big creators could afford it. There could also be a time limit for boosts, such as every other week or once a month.

I think a good solution to this is to limit how many promotions or “impressions” a room can buy depending how many active players they already have.

For example if a room has 0 active players online in a given day, the creator can buy 10k impressions for that room in a day or week. (Or whatever limit is imposed on impressions as there are a limited amount of people who can see those impressions in a given day.) If their room looks attractive they will achieve a good impression-to-visit rate.

For a room with 100 active players in a given day, they will be limited
on how many number of impressions can be purchased, like 1,000.

I think the pricing should be around 1-10 tokens per impression, as I found that the average tokens earned per visit on rooms is generally around 10 tokens.
