We’ve released a Run the Block environment asset pack to add to the My Little Monster and water shader asset packs. Compatible with Rec Room Studio, these packs contain objects that you can use to quickly build your own rooms!
Here’s a video where we use the Run The Block environment pack to make a building in just 15 minutes!
What’s Inside an Environment Asset Pack?
Environment Asset Packs include assets in three key categories:
1. Prefab Props
You can quickly add Prefab Props like benches, lamps, trees, and signs. Each prop is fully optimized with clean geometry, polished textures, and logical pivot points for easy placement.
2. Construction Pieces
Construction Pieces are the foundation. These include walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, doors, and windows - all designed to snap to a 1x1 meter grid. Their consistent pivots and modular design ensure seamless alignment, making them ideal for constructing buildings and other complex structures quickly and efficiently.
3. Decoration Pieces
Decoration Pieces add flair. Think moldings, fire escapes, vents, trim etc. . These are flexible, free-form assets that let you refine the look and feel of your environment without being bound by grid constraints.
How to Use Environment Asset Packs
You’ll need Rec Room Studio access to use environment asset packs. Check here for RRS eligibility requirements.
Once you have your asset pack downloaded, follow the steps here!
- Download the pack you’d like to use here.
- Drag and drop Prefab Props for immediate placement. In this example, we dropped in a wall.
- Use Construction Pieces to assemble buildings and structures with precision. Right here, we snapped another wall next to the initial one.
- Add Decoration Pieces to embellish. We added a rim here to give our wall some edge.
What’s Next?
We’ll be releasing Avatar Asset packs next year, which will provide customizable, themed items and base meshes to help you design unique, high-quality Avatar Outfit Items.
