I am making an invention I want a player to edit and configure the audio, CV2 colors etc, but I really don’t want them to save it as a private invention and I no longer am credited when a player puts it in their room. With different configuration options for what players can do with your invention you can get credit fr countless times people have saved your invention and put it in a room you have no knowledge about and get no credit for.
I’m not sure what you mean by:
CV2 colors etc,
If you mean configuring Text colors, lights and audio players, this can already be done. If you include an event definition in your invention you can add event receivers into your components that change their settings on the fly without needing players to configure it with their makerpen. Most components already include these in their chipboard when they are spawned in.
All you need to do is search up the component name, for example “Text” and it will pull up all the chips that allow you to configure a text.
Hope this helps!
Would it not be easier if you could allow a player to configure anything but not also be able to save your invention?
Sort of, it really depends how you set it up. It would be nice if inventions had a more flushed out option that allowed for this.
I think it would be easier, but it may mean waiting for inventions as a whole to be updated and that might take some time. For now that should work for your purposes unless they want to edit chips like constants, but at that point they’ll probably just be replacing or making something on their own.
Here’s a post about updating inventions:
