Basically inventions should get an update for some stuff and im not going to make an individual post for each one except mass deleting inventions witch i made a post about i little bit ago

  1. Info ui on the inventions kinda needs an update because it really doesn’t fit with the new ui

  2. adding Co-Owners to inventions Because when i publish an invention and my freinds did some work te help on it i want them to be seen on the creator part of the inventions ui
    (There is also no reason to have such a big and empty spot for the creator it looks like it was supposed to have more creators at some point)

  3. Mass deleting inventions

  4. Makeing it so that when you make a paid invention the people who buy it can edit it
    (If we take the update from up there where there can be co owners for inventions then the player who made the original paid invention would permanently be on the owners tab

  5. Being able to see what rooms the invention was used in (if its a public room)

  6. Being able to see what players have bought your inventions

  7. Being able to edit an invention after its published
    (though you would still need to un-publish it first most likely)
    It would make it so when i accidentally publish an invention that didn’t have somthing in it you would be able to fix it

I think that most of these would help better inventions and make more creators use/buy inventions!!

5 and 6 i think would be bad, many people would use it to try and hold power over or brag to rooms/users who use the invention. I can understand the curiosity but it would likely be abused. Maybe Rec Room would be more okay with it if there was a warning when viewing its page that “this invention is being tracked by the creator”, and even then i feel like that would just make people averted to picking that invention over other similar inventions.
7 would be great, though i’ve also heard people have concerns about it being abused, like users putting up a good invention, and then making it obsolete by replacing it with something else. You already can republish inventions i believe, it’s just super janky and takes a couple weeks before the store accepts that you unpublished it and stops giving you the “you have already published an invention with this name” message. I either waited or contacted Zendesk sometime ages ago and an invention i made some changes to got republished just fine. If they were to implement this as a way easier feature though, they should make it so that you have access to the version history of the invention though, so if anything like this was attempted players could just download a previous version of it.

Suuuuuper supportive of 2, 3 and 4 though. 2 and 4 i’ve been whining about to people myself for years!
Alot of creators specialise in 1 or 2 of circuits, buildings, environments, props, art, audio, models, etc. and if they ever want to work on something more “full” they’d end up needing the help of someone who won’t be properly recognised due to the invention only showing the @ of the publishing player! It would be so awesome to see people collaborate on inventions together!
Mass invention deleting would be awesomer too, it’s a huge pain. I’ve suggested before that Rec Room should make some menus more like folders, so you can organise the order of inventions, sort them into your own categories, and go into a kind of “select mode” where you can select many at once to either move between folders or delete!
Paid inventions being locked to the “use only” perm has actually averted me from making paid inventions at all so far. I hate the idea that if i want to make money off of something, players are no longer able to modify it. Also, what if i make a circuit and one small bug or change to certain CV2 chips affects how it works? They won’t be able to edit into the circuitboard and try to troubleshoot for themselves! I would love to upload separate free and paid versions of any circuits i make, a free use only version solely for using exactly how i made it and where everything is locked away in the circuitboard, and a paid version set to “can edit” where users can edit into the circuitboard to troubleshoot, modify, use parts in their own circuits, and learn how mine work.

As a fix for the possibility of inventions being tracked you could add a toggle that makes it so you can’t be tracked and are just put as anonymous or somthing like that same with the rooms

You could always put their username in the description and say that they helped in the creation of the invention but I think this would be a amazing addition

Actually you know what would be a good alternative to direct tracking? If you could see what kind of rooms your invention gets used in (as in, tags, similar content rooms, rooms that the same kinds of players visit, etc). That would be helpful information you can use to improve without explicitly telling you where it is used.
