Strengthening the Connection Between Creators and Subscribers
Current Challenges:
- Creators often struggle to gain visibility for their work, even with a large subscriber base.
- Players find it unintuitive to subscribe to creators they admire.
Root Causes:
- Creators rely solely on announcements to reach subscribers, but the notifications tab is cluttered and easy to overlook, especially for users following many creators. Small thumbnails and limited preview text exacerbate the issue, requiring users to click into messages for details.
- Clicking on a creator’s profile from a room or invention page doesn’t directly lead to their portfolio, making it harder for players to subscribe or explore their work.
Proposed Solutions:
- Dedicated Creator Page with Categorized Posts:
Introduce a feed-style page displaying updates from subscribed creators, categorized by type (e.g., inventions, rooms, announcements). Use larger thumbnails and more visible text for better readability. If integrating this into the watch UI is challenging, it could be implemented as a feature in the Dorm Room, such as a dedicated wall or noticeboard. - Streamlined Navigation for Creator Profiles:
Allow players to directly access a creator’s portfolio, featuring their works and a prominent subscription button, by clicking on the creator’s profile picture from any room or invention page.
These improvements would make it easier for players to engage with their favorite creators, enhance the visibility of creator content, and strengthen community connections within Rec Room.
