I still have a biiig post about creation bugs that have gone unfixed for as long as even several years. And they aren’t just Rooms1.0 bugs, the majority exist in BOTH Rooms1.0 and Rooms2.0 and i just feel like it has never truly been seen or cared about.

This looks super AI generated and is the only way this profile has ever engaged with this site since it joined.
Was this meant to be some kind of attempt to trick users here into thinking less negatively about this post?
I don’t think we’ll ever see it get advanced enough to fully replace us but also then what is the point in having it? It’ll either be suuuper inefficient and not worth paying for, or it will be good enough to run out all of the actual circuiteers which will just be a kick in the ass to all the creators who built the game up to be as popular as it is today. I worry that it will enable slop creators to much more easily trick younger players into thinking their terrible slop rooms are higher quality than they actually are, and Rec Room already doesn’t do enough to fight the sleazy token and engagement practices in the game.
It was those interactive learning experiences that really encouraged me to start creating in Rec Room; they should totally make more of those. And re-open the tutorial video program - I’d love to start creating tutorial videos if they’d open it again.
I think that making keys that require tokens accessible to more than rr+ users would boost rr income depending on the 2 statistics of how much is made from rr+ and how much is made from individual token buying it could make more profit since people wouldn’t have to have rr+ to make it so keys can be bought and it also enables people that may not have the money for rr+ to have tokens and it would not has the token economy be as inflated as it is with inventions clothing items etc. Having the ability to make keys without the needing of rr+ would have in my opinion the effect of the stimulus checks that were given by the us government but would be more productive because more people would be buying tokens because there would be more keys to buy which would help stimulate the rec room token economy and also have the ability for rec room to have more profit via tokens and maybe even rr+ because of the 6k tokens you get with rr+. You may have this counterclaim “But some people buy rr+ just for the ability to make keys cost money” I’ve done interviews on rr+ members and asked why they bought rr+ and only 57 out of the 437 people I interviewed said it was for the ability to make keys. 37 out of those 57 were military clans or virtual bars who either sold weapons and or drinks for tokens. In conclusion, there is a vast amount of profit to be made from adding the ability to make keys cost tokens without rr+ to possibly make more funds for the company over the rec room, or if rec room is a company itself idk but anyways this is just and idea I have. For clarification on anything I have said in this response message me on discord my user is sneaky9601onrust.
Oh i think many would mind, it would piss off alot of people. But i also feel like it’s their best bet if future RROs absolutely HAVE to be profitable
I think it would be worth it, i just miss feeling like with the RRO quests that Rec Room was making us some fun stuff for free.
I think the issue with that is they (understandably) don’t want to risk just anyone being able to make enough tokens to cash out. Rec Room loses money on people cashing out for real money, but they gain money on people seeing that cashout option and being suuuuuper enticed to try and make content. It’s so profitable because there are so many players that aren’t making enough to cash out. (as far as i’m aware, maybe i’m wrong and have no idea what i’m talking about lol)
I think Maker AI should be SERIOUSLY focused on teaching circuits, absolutely! There are so many concepts that people will just have no idea how to interact with and that means that they might make a system, it wasn’t exactly what they wanted, but because they thought it was at first they don’t find out how it works until waayyy down the line and can’t even figure out where to find the issue in the circuits later.
Maker AI should be trained to teach people what magnitude means, how calling a function works, what to do to get the degrees something is being twisted around a certain axis, how to make more solid networking, etc etc.
I’ve actually got a forum post about how we can re-open the tutorial program here if you’d like to take a look and possibly upvote!
But each one saw less play than the one before it
Yea, probably cause the newer quests weren’t available on most platforms for an extended period of time, leaving Isle and Crescendo unavailable to quest/mobile players for several years. And it doesn’t really help that RR essentially killed their RROs due to how much the recent ones lack in quality, replayability, and polish.
And if Rec Room has been financially struggling for years, why would it be a good idea to introduce MakerAI? I remember reading from one of these blog posts (or somewhere) that even RR+ couldn’t cancel out the cost for it.
So our goal with AI is simple: help more people become creators, and help great creators do more.
I genuinely feel like there are much better ways to introduce people to the Maker Pen than asking AI to do everything. it feels like telling someone next to you who’s holding the MP and has room permissions to “move the object against the wall” or “change the color of this to blue”. you’re not actually doing anything with the maker pen but instead telling it what to do.
Instead of MakerAI, you can further promote Maker Pen Classes or even make a better, more in-depth tutorial for the Maker Pen and circuits for new players on how to use it, split into units and lessons and whatnot.
But now I’m asking myself who MakerAI is even for. You’ve said that it’s for new players who want to learn the Maker Pen, but the fact that it’s behind a paywall instantly undermines the whole point of it being for them. Not many people who just downloaded the game a month ago would want to pay a subscription to use a half-baked AI tool
And for people who are already experienced with the Maker Pen, why even bother with MakerAI if it can’t build nor do circuits as efficiently as them?
MakerAI is a genuine dead-end for Rec Room. I genuinely don’t see how this can work for any aspect of the game and RR as a company. This better not be the way one of my favorite games goes under
Nah facts bro, a timeline would be dope so we can keep up with everything fixed
Hmmm Rec Room Rec Room you guys are putting me on a roller coaster lol. I do appreciate the honesty & transparency & there’s nothing new I can really say that my fellow peers haven’t said on this post before me, but I will say that Rec Room NEEDS with all caps, NEEDS to listen to the community when it comes to improving the enjoyability of the game
.
We all want to see this game great again & make great games that become successful. Even myself personally I was excited to begin my creation career back when I first started, it’s been a bit of a hassle but I’m grateful for the failures because they helped me become a better creator.
To the point of this post though (myb for the yapping ) What I think would bring that game to divine status would be to promote games that use ragdoll physics!! Look at games like Roblox that alot of creators emulate & try to bring into the game but it’s a handicap version because of the lack of ragdoll physics.
Just my opinion on what I think would contribute to the success of rec room as a whole, love you guys man
I can understand this, except for the AI part.
Why focus on making more people creators when they don’t have much to create in the first place? Improve the tools. Then try expanding.
As for first party content, I thought part of the vision was to improve use facing tools? What happened to that? I personally think its the best way to expand your ugc ecosystem and allow people to create a lot of content. I recommend focusing on making a very high quality tent pole rro, or having a vision for one that you constantly add tools for. That’s what the guys over at Build a rocket boy do for Arcadia. Show us a roadmap with the things you’re gonna add. Plan ahead but realistically, not with a crappy AI tool that barely does any good. You say you don’t want anymore vc money, but it makes you seem like you do, and constantly being indepted to a bunch of investors sounds just as appealing as AI generated games.
Hey Nick & Rec Room team,
Thanks for the transparency in the latest post about your development priorities, and for all the work you’re doing to grow the platform.
I totally understand the financial reasons behind shifting focus to UGC and Maker AI, and I think it’s great that you’re working to make creation more accessible for everyone. That said, I’d like to share a few thoughts as both a player and a creator:
RROs and quests are already deeply missed. They’re often the first meaningful experiences that draw players in. Dropping them completely could disappoint a big part of the community.
Relying solely on UGC could lead to imbalance. Without standout internal content, overall quality might suffer, and even creators need strong, inspiring examples to grow from.
AI is a powerful tool, but not everyone feels comfortable with it. Some creators might feel left behind or discouraged if they don’t want to use it—or think everything will soon be AI-made.
All I’m hoping for is that we can keep a balance between creation, exploration, and gameplay, and that we can keep dreaming with you of a Rec Room that’s rich, diverse, and fun for everyone.
Thanks for listening — and for building all this with us!
as much as i love how much effort get’s put into ugc i just can’t see it becoming “better” than what ya’ll have made with “rros”, rros for me is what made rec room different than roblox, roblox is more of a community driven game while rec room is more of a developer driven game. RRO’s will always have a “AAA” feel to it where there is a brand new experince that can’t replicated no matter how much creators try.
Personally if they would add more thing free to play players could earn like maker pens, weapons, watch skins, avatar cosmetics, and more!

This is more in response to your investors, I think. While I don’t own a company myself, my father does so I do know a small thing or two about these sorts of things. Rec Room, you’re stuck in a really awful position, pushing you to do things in hopes to keep Rec Room alive, just throwing things at the wall and hoping it sticks. The situation you’re going through is definitely more complicated than can legally be published on the internet, since there would be NDA’s signed and stuff like that. My idea for you is to perhaps build maker ai to also analyse strategies and games that can work and generate profit for your company, so you can kill two birds with one stone. You can still build an AI, while still being assisted by profits generated from building rec room originals which are monetizable and really fun. Anyway, i’m not going to delve deeper into this, but I would love to discuss this with one of the Rec Room developers or even you, Nick!
“We know y’all THINK you want quests and weeklies, but trust me bro…what you actually want is improved creation tools!”
Uhhh can you at least start by removing the bug that causes avatars to spin chaotically around the room? I can’t even build under these conditions.
