The new user problem

This is kind of serious here.

Letting all players have access to the creator forum sounds a bit too much, as i’ve seen a lot of new comments either steering the conversation away or causing drama.

Not saying that everybody is bad.

I don’t want this forum to get flooded with negatives, which already has kind of damaged a bit of this game and the community.

I agree with this, limit the creator hub to genuine creators whether its through a request feature or a sub level.

I’m sure it could be strengthened by better moderation. This forum does have a lot of people with weird grammar habits and I find there is a little lack of constructive criticism in some places, its nothing that people cannot improve on though.

I don’t think locking it down based on subscriber levels is a good idea; I don’t create much content on Rec Room but I do care enough about the game for me to at least be able to give feedback on upcoming features and/or create bug reports or public feature requests.

Doesn’t rec room have a built in bug report menu?

You could probably make it so that new users have to spend an amount of time on the forum (similar to how Roblox restricts their user access to the forum)

Hi, wanted to chime in here! This is something we actively thought about. Luckily, we have a system implemented called Trust Levels. You might already be aware of it. This provides a natural path for users to get more permissions on the forums.

When you first sign up, you’re actually Trust Level 0 and literally can’t even post (early on in the Forum launch, we let users skip straight to level one). This saves us from a lot of low effort spam or comments. To talk on here, you have to show some level of participation.

This is something I’m always monitoring though. I want this to be a mature place for creation discussion. If things ever do get out of hand I think we’ll put some higher barriers on reaching Trust Level One and Two.

If you do see something that feels low effort or spammy please flag it. Me and the mod team will check it out.

Let me know if this helps, or if there’s other questions or feedback.

yah, you got a point but they cant just do that cause they have bug reports and stuff and this is basically the only way to report a bug that i am aware of at least, i mean maybe lock some topics to only be accesible to people with like 10 subs or something

yah they do i forgot abt that

I’m not sure what you mean? I do agree that the forum is not for everyone, but i have not encountered several negative comments? I mean sure like 1 or 2 negative comments a week sure but its not bad?

For me I don’t think so :woman_gesturing_no:. Make people do their job as moderator :man_police_officer: and help the community see who is here to play games :video_game: or actually help :hammer_and_wrench: the game. This is why making and having a report system
:black_flag: is important. Also having staff :woman_factory_worker: to make sure reports are valid :white_check_mark: are right there. Plus :plus: this is a place where there’s written responses :writing_hand: and no who said what said from people mouths :mouth: now its in writing. :writing_hand: Also this is so much to do in the first place. I don’t think most players that play the game get into this writing portion. Only if it’s a creator :hammer_and_wrench: or a urgent matter :red_exclamation_mark: or being malicious :angry_face_with_horns: I might be wrong tho :woman_shrugging:
