I’ve seen that skyboxes don’t work when you add them in via RRS, or if you don’t add a skybox in your first save of RRS then it stops you from adding a skybox in the game and RRS. There’s a fix however:
-
In RRS, select the skybox you want to use. I’ll use one of rec room’s built in skyboxes for now as this is what the issue effects.
-
Go into the inspector and look at the top. You’ll see the name of the skybox, and a dropdown for the shaders.
-
Select the dropdown and press the “Skybox” option.
-
Select the “Rec Room Skybox” option. You might be thinking, why are we putting the same shader on as what it currently has? Well, we are re-applying the shader so it should reset the skybox and make it work as correctly.
-
Once you’ve applied the shader, you’ll see that the icon has changed in the explorer. This means that it has worked.
-
Drag and drop the skybox into your game, and you can build / upload to rec room with no issues.
If we load into the game, we can see that it has worked as intended.
This is how I learnt to fix this issue, if you come across a solution that works better please let me know! I’m always open for feedback.
