After the recent situation with Rec Room, there’s many ways to salvage and improve features they already have developed. One that could help financially is replacing the AI of roomie and making just an interactive pet that makes noises, holds your items and helps you in quests. You can give the character cute noises and sounds and you’ll already have a cute companion by your side. Making him honestly way more interesting.
This could also introduce actual pets into the game, we already have My little monsters. I don’t see how it would be an issue if we cant just figure out a way to bring them into the round up of characters you can choose from. You can go even further around that. Just no UGC please.

While I think pets would be a great addition, I don’t think they’d improve the situation all that much. Unless monetized in a different way, they’d basically function as any other one-time purchase cosmetic item. While I think Roomie is a novel feature, it’s subscription based. Obviously to cover the AI costs, but it also serves as more of a financial return for Rec Room.
For pets to be a viable financial option, the way I see it. They’d either have to be a subscription model, like Roomie. Or most likely they’d have to be exorbitantly higher priced, talking like $25-$50, at least. Both of which, I feel wouldn’t be received well by the community.
Wouldn’t just keeping it as a RR+ Subscription be an exception to that?
Yeah, I’d consider that to be a subscription. But people already hate that Roomie is a RR+ feature. In thinking about it, I think if they did add pets it would have to a one-time purchase. Rather than people subscribing (either RR+, or something different), getting attached to their pet, then losing it the next month when they can’t re-subscribe.
That was the main idea, I should have further explained what I would like to see, It being a one time purchase would satisfy a great number of players in the game, following that it could help with budget for a short while.
Pets have been a big features that people have wanted and by what we all have seen, its possible. With MLM characters and roomie, they should be able to develop a more advanced or at the very least stable version for people to use.
