Whenever I make an invention, it shows me how many people have it, and how many people used it in their own room. Sometimes, I wonder what rooms they used them in. I’d like to see how people used them.
Invention Usage Viewing is the term I’m coming up with for this post. Here’s how it can work.
When a player publishes an invention, other players can get it and add it to their rooms. The player who originally made that invention can see if their invention is in a room. For example, a model of a turtle is used in an aquarium. It is an invention. The room in question is public, so everyone can see the room. The player who made the invention can use a list to see what public rooms their invention is used in. This list will not include private rooms that have the invention you wish to see, obviously.
What do y’all think? Should this come to pass as an actual feature?
It’s a risky idea, i could see many creators lording it over other users. If you want something of yours to be public, you should be able to accept/not care about anybody in particular using it, but many people would for sure use this to pick and choose who they are and aren’t okay with their invention being used by.
What this would provide: really just satiating curiosity, i guess it could maaaybe help form connections between different creators?
What would probably come with it: people abusing this information to harrass or bully people they don’t like that use their invention, trying to claim credit for the success of a room using their invention.
What would be more useful is seeing information that is less specific but more technical, like what are common tags for the rooms it tends to be used in, how well on average do rooms that use it perform, do many people find and download it from showing up in other players’ rooms’ “Inventions Used” tab vs finding it naturally through your profile or Link Buttons, etc etc
