Rec Room's Share Cam Video Feature (How to Improve It)

[@Loucosh and @HenryDBeasley This feature was released YAY!] I have tried out the Share cam’s new video feature and I LOVE IT!! However there are things that, in my opinion, should be added to this new feature.

  • The ability to change the screen resolution for your videos
  • The ability to share on Rec.net WITH moderation tools checking each video
  • The ability to “Print” out the videos to show to someone else or just let others see your Share Cam
  • VR (Including Meta Quest) Access to this new feature [Rec Room, I am positive that Meta Quest has a menu that appears when the video is sent to the device.]
  • The ability to pause your recordings and pick them up somewhere else, perhaps maybe another room?
  • The ability to have longer recordings (although this may not be needed)

It’s just my thoughts, Rec Room, and you don’t have to do this anyway. I would especially love it to roll out to VR and Meta Quest players because I am (trying to be again) a video creator on Meta Quest and it is frustrating to use an iPad or a slow laptop to run another Rec Room instance, then connect a controller and hide the on-screen controls.

Why can’t you use the video capture share cam feature on Quest, and why isn’t there a horizontal feature also? They say it’s only for mobile devices

I don’t really know. I guess they either are still experimenting with it, or they don’t want to add it. However, the feature would work perfectly on Quest devices because they also have a save system, but Rec Room would have to check it out a little bit. (It’s literally just a one-time confirmation “Allow Rec Room to save files onto this headset?” then it would all work.
