This is a request to re-open the Tutorial Program, with new ideas to better the experience for veteran and new tutors, and keep it open with less pressure on the staff.

The tutorial program has had an on-and-off lifecycle. It is common for it to be closed for a time before being reopened, just to be closed again weeks later! Frogface, Ryu, StarCenturion, GotSeb, and other staff have worked off-the-clock to run the tutorial program for the past five/six years.

Yet, each iteration is never sustained for long. How can we improve it to keep it open more reliably?
We can start with it being Community-Run. The program will be placed into the hands of past and passionate tutors from years previous. But we don’t intend to gatekeep. ANY community tutor who would like to, may work towards becoming a judge to help run the program.
This can help Rec Room become more decentralized and less stressed over their many programs. If this consideration is experimented with and shows success, it may have good implications for the future of more programs.
The other proposal is how the videos/tutors are judged. This proposed iteration will adopt the previous judging methods, but mix in some time requirements as well. Meaning, receiving rewards will be locked behind time, number, and basic quality requirements. Current concepts are detailed in this document. It will not be as easy as the most recent run, but it will not be as harsh as years prior.
We want tutors making useful videos, without being pressured with submission deadlines.

Meaning tutors will be encouraged to work together to earn extra rewards, whether they are Doctoral or Bachelor tutors!
Celebrations are also key. Increasing tiers for tutorial-making can be just as exciting as graduating from a Creative Class. We want to make you feel excited to make tutorials and for benefiting the community. We’ll celebrate together our achievements!
