Don't allow SteamVR on Rec Room

NOTICE: If you don’t want to read all of this, just skip to the most important part paragraph…

THE IDEA

So, this might be crazy, but I have an idea. So, lets say you have played PvP games like ^prisonLife (You mostly see stuff like this on ^PrisonLife) and well, you see VR players teleport even though they have locomotion on, and you see VR players teleporting into the ground, All that is because of SteamVR. See, SteamVR players use this tool that basically changes allows them to teleport without going out of their play area and Rec Room saying they are moving too fast. they even go into the ground too in these PvP games, which can make things VERY annoying (Its only users that use Classic Bean too, this influence is one of the reasons I no longer use Classic Bean, and well, lack of customization) So, what if you did a test for about a weak or so that made Rec Room on Steam SCREENMODE ONLY. so they would only be able to play on PCVR using Meta Quest Link version of Rec Room, the one that you install on the Meta Quest Link PC app(They don’t need to use Meta Quest Link, What ever the OpenXR runtime is set to, Rec Room will use that. An example of this is a VirtualDesktop user set Virtual Desktop as the OpenXR Runtime.)

WHY SHOULD WE DO THIS?

If players can’t use SteamVR, they lose lots of things that SteamVR and tools(That could only function with the use of SteamVR) have to offer, and thats the point! Thats why this is a good thing. Meta (Or Oculus) Quest players can’t teleport under the ground or teleport like ten feet, But SteamVR does (It can also make players very tall, so now they can show off that they are actually 4.5 feet tall!) And even if they use the Meta Quest Link Version of Rec Room while also using steam, The hand positions may break completely, and (I know this from opening the Meta Quest Link Version of Rec Room using SteamVR) your hands will completely lose their vibrations. And since most PCVR players I meet use Meta Quest Link, or VirtualDesktop with Steam, they could just set the OpenXR Runtime to Meta Quest Link or VirtualDesktop. And i’m pretty sure players with PCVR headsets can play VR games without SteamVR.

Most IMPORTANT PART!!!

Basically, remove SteamVR from Rec Room, and make an OpenXR launch instead (This means Rec Room will launch in VR using whatever is set as the OpenXR Runtime, Its like that by Default on the Meta Quest Link Version of the game. The hard part is trying to make sure that SteamVR isn’t the one set as the OpenXR Runtime.

Why remove steam and use both?

not to be rude or anything but, is this a joke?, like you cant say “don’t allow steamVr on rec room” when it was released on there

And then, starting around in the last full week of February of 2016, they spent 99 days to create the first iteration of Rec Room, which was launched on Steam on June 1st, 2016 , to the HTC Vive

Quest players can’t teleport under the ground or teleport like ten feet, But SteamVR does (It can also make players very tall, so now they can show off that they are actually 4.5 feet tall!) And even if they use the Meta Quest Link Version of Rec Room while also using steam, The hand positions may break completely, and (I know this from opening the Meta Quest Link Version of Rec Room using SteamVR)

and this look steam is not always going to work but yet people still use it you cant blame rec room for that its like the Nintendo situation they cant really do much but try there best so contact support tell them this and so on this isn’t really helpful just saying that

if you think its that easy I don’t think you possibly understand this that there low on employees and theirs truly not much they can do since half of the staff team got fired just wait patiently and hope this gets fixed if it doesn’t then sorry but requesting something has nothing to do with the hashtags of the post isnt anything to really gonna help you in anyways possible

also Openvr has a lot of buggy issues like " The text is unreadable and video looks terrible . I’ve tried deleting and recreating the OpenVR.ini several times and I still get the same issue." that’s from a person that use’s it. so your suggesting to make it more buggy than your complaining about?

good your disclosing this issue but you don’t need to post that here contact steam support or rec room support yes its stressful believe me I worked for 8 months 3 weeks to get my main account back because it got stolen so if its not easy than I’m sorry but its not going to be fixed anytime soon.

also don’t put this has “in game” or “builds” when its not even that people are on forums for, help, advice?,etc but don’t complain about stuff

they don’t truly understand or “know” that suggesting something else that’s supposedly “help” these “bugs” will solve his problems lol ps the issues with OpenVr it sucks and it has a lot of buggy issues.

This game’s support for steam vr has been there since day one.
a man with a bandage on his face is holding a coin with the words " ragebait or fact call it " below him
A lot of people might’ve read this wrong though

Exactly, They are literally making money out of it, why just “Remove” Rec Room from Steam?

April Fools day was 10 days ago. You’re a bit late with this one.

Jokes aside though…play space movers are already not allowed in that context. The proper suggestion would be to enforce those rules more strictly, rather than suggesting Rec Room remove an entire platform. Which would essentially be punishing everyone for the actions of a few. I understand your position, but this is not the way to go.

Why would Rec Room remove SteamVR support if they released on it? Fully transferring over to a different OpenXR Runtime would be more effort than just better height abuse detection and playbase. Also, not everyone on steamvr messes around with their playbase and ruins games. Streamers use steamvr software to see their chat, and interact with apps ingame without opening up their steam menu. This is pretty much a joke and not allowing steamvr would make a LOT of people not be able to play the game anymore.
